UAVs in mountain warfare – strategies, technologies, and future conflict dynamics.

The event will focus on the increasing importance of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in mountain warfare and their potential impact on future military operations in challenging environments.
As the nature of warfare continues to evolve, UAVs have become essential tools in mountainous regions, where the terrain presents unique challenges for both reconnaissance and combat operations. The NATO MW COE, recognized as a leader in advancing mountain warfare capabilities, will provide valuable insights into the topic of the event.
The Deputy Director and Chief of Staff, Col. Italo Giacomo Spini (ITA) will explore critical topics, including:
- How do we foresee the integration of advanced UAV technologies changing the strategies employed by mountain troops in future conflicts.
- what initiatives or projects are currently underway to improve UAV utilization in mountain warfare.
- What are some unique challenges and advantages of deploying UAVs in mountainous terrain compared to other environments.
