Mountain Warfare Congress 2024
The 6th Mountain Warfare Congress, themed “Mountain Warfare 2040” took place from 21-24 October 2024 and brought together over 200 participants from 22 nations. This prominent gathering focused on exploring the evolving strategies and technologies shaping the future of mountain warfare. The congress provided a platform for experts to share historical insights, current strategies and innovative concepts to anticipate and adapt to the changing nature of mountain warfare.
A key objective of the congress was to fuse the lessons of past and present mountain warfare with emerging capabilities to promote a vision of future operations. As the battlespace evolves, it is increasingly likely that the nature of mountain warfare will change, incorporating multi-domain operations as a fundamental element. Lecturers emphasised the strategic importance of securing movement corridors, protecting infrastructure and safeguarding essential resources in mountainous regions.
Complementing the Congress were exhibitions by more than 43 companies from 12 countries, each showcasing advanced products designed for the future of mountain warfare. These exhibits offered attendees a glimpse of cutting-edge technology and equipment, underscoring the industry’s commitment to addressing the unique challenges of mountain warfare.
Mountain Warfare Congress 2024 marked a significant step forward in preparing armed forces to navigate and excel in the complex and evolving landscape of mountain warfare in the future.
